Overview of update workflows
There are various methods to deploy an update, depending on what you want to update and what firmware your readers currently run on. Below, we've summarized best- practice workflows for different scenarios.
A note on custom firmware
Suggestions below that apply to our standard firmware 1100 v2.00 or above also apply to custom firmware originally created as of November 2021.
Configuration update
All readers have firmware 1100 v2.00 or above
- Create a new version of your configuration with the required changes.
- In Administrative Information, disable Support Legacy Firmware Versions.
- Release and export the new version.

Firmware update
If you're unsure whether a firmware update makes sense, check our recommendations.
You can download the current stable versions of our standard firmware, each in the latest bugfix version. Deployment methods depend on your project setup.
All readers have firmware 1100 v2.00 or above
Use one of the following methods:
No readers have firmware 1100 v2.00 or above
Use Wired Upload.
Some readers have firmware 1100 v2.00 or above
You have 2 options:
- Use Wired Upload for all readers.

Use Wireless Upload for readers with firmware 1100 v2.00 and Wired Upload all other ones.
For the second option, you need to package the firmware with your configuration. The BEC2 file you'll receive will be accepted by all readers.
